August 2023

turtle crossing road
A sure sign that summer is winding down and autumn is just around the corner! We moved 3 of these fellas off the inroad during the last week of August as they've been migrating from the creek side to the forest side of the road.

doghouses for mini goats
Occasionally, our B&B guests have a concern that the mini goats may be too much of a 'chase temptation' for their dog(s). In those cases, we move the goats farther away from the home. So, these dog houses work perfectly. They provide shade on hot days, shelter when it rains or snows, are easy to move, durable enough to put up with the boys rubbing on them, and our little fellas really seem to like them.

magnolia tree blossoms
The large magnolia tree in the front yard of our b&b home is 'popping' with flagrant blossoms.

May 2023

sheltered firepit in backyard
There is a band from Asheville to Marshall that is the dryest area in NC. And we fall smack dab in the center of it. Though, that's not saying a lot because we still average 45" of precipitation annually. Shockingly, the wettest area of NC is Transylvania County, just 50 miles to our south, where some areas average a whopping 92" of precip. But, if we happen to have rain during your stay, all is not lost. Our firepit area is protected with a metal roof so you can enjoy watching the goats, cows and mountain views, outdoors in comfort... even when it's raining.

April 2023

milkweed with monarch caterpillar
This time of year, we try to flag the 100+ milkweed plants popping up along the inroad to our BnB home, to avoid mowing over them. (Update: 1st monarch caterpillar of 2023 seen already on June 5th.)

March 2023

mini goat pushing fence
Even though the overnight yard for our mini goats is large and has lots to eat, the goats are pressed against the gate every morning, excited to get to 'other' stuff.

February 2023

farm photo wall
Since we live just minutes away on the property, we love meeting guests upon arrival. When that's not possible, however, the photo wall in the sunroom entryway welcomes everyone and provides our 24/7 contact information.

friendly and cute tiny goats in large fenced area right off the back deck
We have 3 adorable and super friendly itty-bitty goat bucks that love getting attention from our guests.

The cows often graze just off the back deck in the evenings, as the day is cooling down.

sunroom futon made into couch
There is no prettier place to sit than in the sunroom/hallway that connects the main home and the guest suite.

sunroom futon made into bed
The sunroom/hallway futon is also a magical place to sleep when guests need more than just the 2 queen sized beds in the home. With its foam topper (which didn't make it onto the bed for this photo), the futon sleeper is super comfortable. And the sunroom/hallway even has its own private half bath.

June 2022

drying kona after she was creek swimming at NC Arboretum
Our favorite, dog-friendly place to hike is the NC Arboretum, which is about a half hour drive from our pet-friendly B and B home. Bent Creek inside the Arboretum offers lots of beautiful, cold, and clean swimming holes for dogs. Here we are drying off Kona after an afternoon hike and swim.

pasture raised chickens produce fresh eggs for our guests
A few of the chickens that produce fresh eggs for our guests. Since we seem to have many more owls and hawks than we did in the past, the hens are now raised in large, net 'tents' that we move frequently. This keeps the girls safe as they spend their days worm and grasshopper hunting outdoors on fresh grass.

April 2022

crazy cute caterpillar we noticed in the garden
We aren't gardening as much now that we offer the home for B and B, but we love sharing our blueberries, blackberries and whatever else is in-season with guests. We noticed this adorable caterpillar with fake eyeballs in the garden.

February 2022

queen-sized bed in main bedroom

living area in main unit
When there are 1, 2 or 3 people in your group, the main home provides 1 queen bed plus the full-sized futon bed in the window-filled sunroom/hallway. So, it usually accommodates perfectly.

Groups with 4 or 5 folks will want to reserve the optional, add-on guest suite, as well. That way you'll have 2 bedrooms with a queen-sized bed in each, plus the comfortable futon bed.

Whether you reserve just the main home (https://www.airbnb.com/h/farmstayasheville) or the main home PLUS guest suite (https://www.airbnb.com/h/ashevillefarmstay), you'll be the only ones on the property during your stay. We never split the home between multiple booking groups.

Shown here are the primary home's bedroom and living area (above) and the guest suite's kitchen, living area and bedroom (below). (Photos taken during summer.)
